About THRiVE

Since 1908, we have been women of grace on the journey together. THRiVE is a discipleship movement for women of all ages, helping each one discover the secret to truly thriving—and the secret to THRiVING is this:

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)

Our mission is to help women experience the transforming grace of God so they can fully reflect the image and character of Christ in every space God sets them.

Our Story

In 2012, I gathered with some of my Bible study friends at a women’s conference held at a large church about twenty minutes from my home. Worshiping with these ladies—who had become so dear to me—felt like a dream come true. For years, I had been leading Bible studies for women from all kinds of religious and non-religious backgrounds, and that weekend, they said “yes” to attending this conference together.

Driving home after the first night—as a young mom of four—I remember thinking, “Wow, I didn’t realize how much I needed this kind of gathering with women.” The next morning, during worship led by gifted teachers and musicians, I heard that still, small voice whisper, “Kalyn, you can do this in your community.”

Immediately, I began to envision the women I longed to see worshiping and learning together in a setting like this. Less than a year later, THRiVE was born. With no budget, an all-volunteer leadership team, the support of my local church, and a whole lot of fear and trembling, I said, “Yes, Lord.”

Those first few years taught me that obedience is far better than staying comfortable. As the number of women gathering grew, so did I—learning how to lead, love, and trust God in new ways. The Lord continues to keep me in a place of surrender, in that holy tension between, “There’s nothing I’d rather be doing than leading women through THRiVE,” and “Lord, could I please just run far, far away—or maybe be a quiet fly on the wall?”

But that has never been God’s purpose for my calling. There are countless stories from this ministry that remind me again and again, “I’m so glad I didn’t wimp out!” The friendships and mentorship I’ve received through the women God has brought to serve alongside me are blessings I never saw coming—but I’m grateful for them every single day.

One of my greatest joys has been serving alongside my family—my daughters (one now answering her own call to ministry), my husband, and my two sons—each helping however they can, both at home and abroad.

Through it all, one truth remains: God is faithful. When God says to THRiVE, “Press on. Don’t shrink back. I am calling you, I am equipping you, and I am doing it,” I listen—because God is always faithful.

The inspiration for the name THRiVE comes from Colossians 1:27: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” It’s the secret to truly living—not just surviving. We can thrive because Christ lives in us, and this gift is for all people. What an honor it is to share with others the secret to THRiVING!
